I was going to give images for each album and track-list, but that'd take up too much space, so if you want to have a look at what the album cover and if you want to see what the tracks from each album are, just click the corresponding links. Feel free to ask me to send you any songs as well :) So here goes and in no particular order (probably artist-alphabetical since i'm going through my iTunes library):
A-mei 張惠妹 - Star
Firstly, A-mei is queen @ singing. I love her voice so much and when this was released, it was one of those albums where 'they haven't released any in a while'. Those sorts of albums come with a lot of good songs. And this one does not fail at that. Certain songs on this track could probably make me cry if I tried hard enough.
Armin Van Buuren - Imagine
This album is win. Recommend to me by B earlier this year, it has become my lie-on-the-bed-while-reading and also my jogging song. The tracks on this song are all quite good and it justifies AvB as the awesomest DJ in the world. He's just as good live as well. :)
Various Artists - 超級星光大道 10 強紀念合輯 and 愛 星光 精選 - 昨天 今天 明天
These two albums are from the finalists from the first season of 星光大道. As always, the first season has been the best so far and I could listen to these two albums forever. The compilation of songs (a lot of good songs from other artists) is one reason and the collection of artists is another. These guys (and girl!) have used so much of my quota from just streaming their episodes constantly.
Big Bang - Remember and Number 1
Another 'two albums'. Mm, Big Bang = awesome. Their songs are so catchy and their dances are so cute! and I especially like Seung-Ri :D. These two albums are also grouped together because I listened to both of them simultaneously when I
BoA - The First Album
I used to listen to BoA when I was 13-14. Back then she was all J-Pop and Amazing Kiss. Now I'm 20, she's hit the USA and her beats are still just as catchy. Even better that it's in English. Her lyrics are awesome (not creative, just pwnage): "This song is all about me, damn right it's all about me. La la la la la la. La la la la la la".
Da Mouth - 王元口力口
Da Zui Ba! These guys are like renowned for being the "Asian black eyed peas". They're all from different parts of Asia/the world and they made a pretty good album in Summer 08. Which brings me to the point of this album being one of those albums I kept on repeat during the holidays. It also reminds me of the Lexus for the same reason.
Elva 萧亚轩 - 1087
This album came out right before I went to Melb/Syd in 2007. Consequently, I kept listening to it, along with Evan Yo - 19, F.I.R. - Flight Tribe and TANK - Keep Fighting, while I was there, so it conjures memories of those awesome times I spent with Jess, Nhi, Ray and all our Melb/Syd friends. This was also one of the first songs that filled up my iTunes library which is now peaking 17 gb. I would add the other 2 albums, but I don't want to put too many in this blog post.
Jay Chou 周杰倫 -
Come on, I've been listening to Jay Chou since he first came out and I can pin each album to any part of my life. I could even say that I've "grown up" with his music (and his career!). Regardless of how simple and "plain" his tunes might be, he never fails to impress me each time. As John "the Strangler" Khoo once pointed out, Jay Chou's voice is one of the hardest to imitate. That's true, and that's why Jay is so awesome.
JJ Lin 林俊杰 - 樂行者
JJ Lin is just as awesome, I remember listening to this album particularly in 2005, when Jess went back to China and bought this album! This was also JJ's debut album, so it was set to impress. I used to listen to this album non-stop during my FFX days, where I would endlessly grind the Monster Arena (omg sadface). I would include the rest of his albums in this post, but I'm under the impression that this entry has size constraints.
五月天 - All albums
There's something about Mayday that I love. Maybe their "story", maybe the fact that their lyrics are different. Or maybe that for each album they only put a certain amount of good songs, which has led me to write "All albums" instead of pointing out any in particular. One of my favourite Mayday songs however, is from "我们是:)五月天", which has got to be one of the coolest names for an album. I can't believe I missed their Australian concerts either!
Nan Quan Mama 南拳妈妈 - 调色盘 and 藏宝图
Ah, another awesome band. NQMM were my favourite in highschool; maybe 'cos of Lara, who is the female vocalist. Or maybe because they're the band that Jay helped to form. Anyways, I love NQMM for their songs, they're cute, catchy and carry with them a different style than other songs. And just like any other album I listen to, I can also pinpoint this album to a particular point in my life.
Nicky Lee 李玖哲 - 想太多
When this album came out, I didn't really know who he was. But after "acquiring" this album, I couldn't stop listening to it for a while. It could be his unique voice or it could be his catchy tunes. This album is upbeat and it was one of my "paladin-levelling" albums (by coincidence not choice). Ah..reminds me of Tarren Mill...
Sam Lee 李圣杰 - 關於妳的歌
This album was acquired when I was out searching for 你那麼愛他. Turned out that not only was that song good, but the album~. JT/Didi has the same singing voice as Sam lee and this is also why I like listening to him - so I can request for JT to sing for me some day... But yeah, I could best describe this as the album I'd listen to when I'm 40 because his voice and tunes are so nice and simple that time can't wear it away.
Lee Hom 王力宏 - 改变自己 and 心跳
Yeah, just like JJ and Jay Chou, I used to listen to Lee Hom heaps. Then I listened to "Not Your Average Thug" and thought it was about time I stopped. How dumb of me. Even though I bought 心中的日月 while I was in Melb, I didn't really listen to it and I only really got back into Lee Hom when 改变自己 came out. These two albums are awesome I can't even explain why. It could be his voice? his appeal? Something about Lee Hom's songs that make me want to live in them. Heartbeat also has a cool album cover :). Little fact: Leehom released 改变自己 in an attempt to raise environmental awareness. The packaging and contents are all made of recycled paper and use zero plastic!
Xiao Hong Ren (MY FUTURE HUSBAND) 蕭閎仁 - Debut Album
This album is awesome. As a debut album it was so good. And his voice is soooo nice. I could listen to this album whenever I want and enjoy it, his tunes are so soothing and combined with his awesomely husky voice, my day can always be made. He was also on the one million singer show once and I melted (A).
Xiao Yu 小宇 - 就站在這裡
This guy was new to me. Even though he had released another album before this, I hadn't heard of him. However, this album is still on repeat for me since it came out. His voice is similar to Nicky Lee's and just like Nicky, his tunes are quite upbeat and catchy (maybe due to their greater contact with the USA). But anyway, his eyes remind me of Jay Chou's. All-in-all, highly recommended album by me :).
Yoga (James) Lin 林宥嘉 - 神秘嘉宾
As some people may know, You Jia won the first season of xing guang da dao. He released this album soon after and even though some people don't like his voice or his songs, I think they're both quite unique. His singing style and his singing voice. This album made the list because of the mellow aura that it brings to my playlist. Very good album to listen to when you wanna' just lie down and enjoy the 'now'.
AND THAT, is my list of albums that I think you should listen to. It's not a completely exhausted list, there are certain albums with several good songs that I really really like (even moreso than some of these albums), but me being an accountant, have to adhere to the standards set and these standards say 'Albums'. Apoligies :).
Btw, this has been the longest blog post ever. Long in terms of time, not length or characters. I've spent almost 3 hours writing this up T_T.
