Lie

Lol, people interpret this word in so many ways, but here's a simple one:

lie /laɪ/
noun, verb, lied, ly·ing.
–noun
1. a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood.

lol. so in order for a statement to be a lie, it has to be INTENTIONAL + stuff.
so like, one thing that i question is what happens if it's like one of those joking statements, where you are intending on deceiving, but you know it's nothing serious and you also INTEND for the person to find out that u are obviously JOKING, is there a word for that, that isn't "lie", since that word has awful connotations :S.
